Day 1

Today I worked with 8 kids that already knew how to play. It's easy to teach when the kids are interested in learning. Fun was had by all.

Today's group:
Maya M
Cole
Brandon
Noal
Emma (grade 2)
Maya S
Jake M
Sam

I found this site that is great for learning the game.

I am willing to volunteer to coach for about an hour a week out side school, but I would have to find a suitable location. (We live in an apartment so there is not enough space)

Thanks for working with the kids. Maya M is excited and I think it is great for them. As far as a place to practice....if you want to practice in the school, I'm sure they will accomodate you.

Ivan,
I wanted to make sure you had Cole on your list of those that would be interested in being on the team. My concern was that I didn't receive any info about a meeting today 10/22 in the art room. He is planning on the 10/23 practice. In addition,
unfortunately Cole has a 1pm game on 11/1 and most likely wouldn't be able to complete the tourny.

I am not sure what you mean by "meeting today 10/22 in the art room"

It must have been a misunderstanding on Cole's part.
Sorry about that, see you tomorrow.

The meeting in the art room was the after school chess program run by the Rec Dept, not our chess team.
